by the provincial government of Pangasinan are in full swing for the hosting of
Batang Pinoy Northern Luzon (NL) Leg on October 10-13, here.

Operania who serves as Provincial Sports Director, said the province is now
ready to accommodate 2,500 athletes (15 years and below), trainers, coaches and
guests from Regions 1, 2, 3 and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The young athletes will vie for dominance in 11 sporting
events such as: Arnis, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Chess, Swimming,
Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Lawn Tennis and Karatedo.
The national championship games of Cycling and Baseball will
happen along with the NL leg.
Some 236 technical officials will oversee the sporting
events: the host province will provide 132 technical officials while National
Sports Association (NSA), 32; and NSA-affiliated, 72. There will be 29 local
volunteers.
The NRSCC will serve as the main venue of tournaments
while other sporting events will be played in some alternative locations in Lingayen
town.
Operania together with Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary
Verna Nava Perez (Head of Task Force Palarong Pambansa last May) convened a
meeting with some Philippine Sports Commission representatives on September 27.
The meeting was sought to finalize the hosting, billeting schools for the
participating delegations and the committees-in-charge for the accommodation.
“On instruction of
Governor Amado T. Espino Jr., the Pangasinense athletes who will participate in
various sporting events of the NL Leg are now set for scheduled trainings and
conditionings from October 1-9,” he added.
Recently,
Pangasinan’s Volleyball (Girls) team won the championship of the Batang Pinoy
2012 national volleyball tournament in Marikina City.
The hosting of the province of Pangasinan to
this event is in coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC),
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Olympic
Committee (POC), Department of Education (DepEd), Local Government Units
(LGUs), Philippine National Police (PNP) – Pangasinan and various sectors that
have been supportive to the programs of the provincial government for sports
development.
