LINGAYEN— A new team of 30 Filipino-American medical practitioners based in Western Pennsylvania is set to arrive here to conduct a surgical, medical and dental mission in some cities and towns in Pangasinan.

Provincial Health Officer Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman said the Philippine-American Medical Society (PAMS) of Western Pennsylvania in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan will be providing free medical services in Urdaneta City and the towns of Asingan, Malasiqui, Tayug and San Manuel from January 27 to 31.

This is the second medical group to conduct a medical mission in Pangasinan this month. Earlier on January 13 to 17, about 4,000 Pangasinenses have been recipients of free healthcare services from the Pangasinan Association – United States of America or PAUSA.

While PAUSA is now in its 2nd year of medical mission to the province, PAMS-Western Pennsylvania is just on its first mission.

Dr. Primo Bautista, a Pangasinense from Asingan, will lead the five-day medical mission in designated mission sites with team members numbering about 30 healthcare providers.

De Guzman said the medical society will be performing major operations on 30 beneficiaries in each of the municipalities chosen as sites for the activity.

These beneficiaries will include patients afflicted with myoma, goiter, gallstone, kidney stone, hernia and cleft lip. Treatment and removal of cysts will also be performed.

All major operations shall be conducted at the Urdaneta District Hospital (UDH) in Urdaneta City while medical, dental and pediatric consultations will be done at the mission sites.

To avail of the surgical services offered by the medical society, the PHO chief urged all interested to undergo the pre-screening examinations on the mentioned illnesses at UDH on January 26 at 9:00 am and at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug at 10:00 am.

Prospective beneficiaries are also advised to bring with them necessary medical documents when they submit themselves for pre-screening.

The schedule for the medical missions is as follows:

January 27 Urdaneta District Hospital

January 28 Asingan Gymnasium

January 29 Malasiqui Gymnasium

January 30 Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (Tayug)

January 31 San Manuel Health Center
