LINGAYEN---As part of the upcoming Pangasinan
Pistay Dayat celebration, the Banca Parada or Fluvial Float Parade
competition which will commence at Sitio Bantayan, Pangapisan North,
Lingayen to Bañaga Bridge in Bugallon on May 1 has been opened to all interested participants.
Alex
Ferrer, committee chair for the said activity said the Banca Parada is
open to all local government units (LGUs), national government agencies
and private sector groups in Pangasinan.
Registration has started last April 2 and will end on April 25.
Ferrer
said the competition is divided into two (2) groups where Category A
will be participated in by competitors from the barangays while Category
B will have the national government agencies, LGUs, NGOs, business
establishments and other institutions as participants.
He
said the floats must depict the theme “Linis tan Dakep na Kailugan,
Dayew na Pangasinan” and bear the name and logo of the participating
agency or institution.
Materials
for props and decorations must be dominated by indigenous and
biodegradable materials where budgetary requirement shall be shouldered
by the participants.
Motorized
banca to be used shall be provided by the participants or rented at a
rate of P3,500 per unit from the Provincial Risk Reduction Management
Center.
Further,
Ferrer said the bancas shall have a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10
persons and should be ready for decoration along the staging area on
April 30 at 2:00 in the afternoon.
The
LGU passengers are required to wear colorful outfits depicting their
city or municipality while those from the other agencies and
institutions shall wear Hawaiian attire.
The
criteria for judging include: ingenuity creativity and artistry,
relevance to the theme, dominance in the use of indigenous and
biodegradable materials and over-all impact.
For both categories, the Best Fluvial Float will receive P25,000 and a trophy. The 1st runner up receives P20,000; 2nd runner up-P15,000; and 3rd runner up gets a prize of P10,000.
Consolation prizes of P3,5000 each and certificates will be given to participants of Category A and non-winners in Category B will be given certificates.
