Lingayen --- The
awe-inspiring natural wonders serving as tourism magnets and the warm
accommodation of the provincial government had been the source of appreciation
of some 27 Miss Earth – International beauties who visited the province on
November 17-19.
Coming
from various countries in the globe, the international beauties who have been
promoting their environmental advocacies had witnessed how the provincial
government led by Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. shows love and care for the
environment and humanity through sustained efforts done to preserve the natural
resources and to mitigate climate change.
Moreover,
the panorama of scenic views and tourism magnets in the province leave a
lasting impression to each of them describing Pangasinan as a place of
many-splendored things and as a community of environmentally-conscious
citizens.
“I
hope that as you come home in your places, your good memories in the beautiful
province of Pangasinan will leave a lasting impression,” Gov Espino said during
the segments of the pre-pageant hosted by the provincial government.
The
beauties formally received in a courtesy call on November 17 by the Governor
together with Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. and some Sangguniang
Panlalawigan Board Members were mesmerized by the enchanting presence of the
capitol building upon arriving in the capitol complex.
Miss
Czech Republic Teresa Fajksova who won as first runner-up in the resort wear
and long gown competitions even described the capitol complex as “an amazing
classic structure that is incomparable”.
Members of the local media also had
a great time listening on how the ladies answered their questions on environmental
and socio-cultural concerns during the press conference held at the Urduja
House, the official residence of the Governor that has now been turned into a
splendid Chinese architecture-inspired edifice.
In the evening of 17th,
the public audience roared as they saw the beauties in their shaped bodies in
motion. The resort wear competition took place infront of the capitol building
while the long gown competition held November 18 featured a night of elegance at
the acclaimed cultural center of the North Sison Auditorium.
Bestowing nature-tripping and
environmental attachments, Gov. Espino together with the provincial government
executives and employees escorted the ladies in visiting the “Provincial
Nursery and Mangrove Information Center" in Arnedo, Bolinao early on
November 18.
Smiles and gestures of happiness
were expressed by the beauties as they spent the most of it in enjoying the
natural sceneries and waterscapes of Pangasinan’s ecological frontier Bolinao
town. A seeding of bangus fingerlings at the Agno river in Banaga, Bugallon, which
is now cleared from illegal fishing structures, took place in the afternoon.
Early
on the 19th of November (Monday), the ladies had a coastal clean-up at the Lingayen
beachfront and attended the flag-raising ceremony of the provincial government before
going back to Manila.
This moment gathering the
participation of international nature-lover beauty titlists was an ideal time which
showcased how the noble vision of the present administration for environmental
protection and climate change mitigation has been translated into sustainable actions
in cooperation with community sectors and Non-Governmental Associations.
