Lingayen --- “We will continue reaping awards.”
This was assured by Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. as a testament to exemplary leadership in various local governance categories, after the Regional Development Council (RDC) awarded the provincial government of Pangasinan four more Hall of Fame (HOF) awards during the First Quarter Conference of RDC in Bauang, La Union, March 12.
Noting that the province has earlier received two HOF awards, Gov. Espino said with the new awards, the province now holds six HOF awards given by the RDC.
The new HOF awards of the province include: Best Performing LGU based on Local Governance Perfromance Monitoring System (LGPMS), Best Project Implementer, Best MDG (Millenium Development Goal) Implementer and Best LGU Practices.
The province received its HOF awards in Coastal Resources Management and in the National Statistics Month celebration in 2010.
“Very ironic nga at duon nila ako sinisiraan sa Coastal Resource Management eh samantalang Hall of Fame awardee ang probinsya duon,” the Governor said.
“But what is important is the HOF as Best Performing LGU based on Local Governance Performance Monitoring System (LGPMS) which measured the province’s three-peat outstanding performances in administrative governance, social governance, economic governance and environmental governance,” Gov. Espino said.
The province of Pangasinan is now a favourite destination of study tours, a pace-setter in environmental preservation with the “Ilog Ko, Aroen Tan Bilayen Ko” as pioneer project for the conservation of rivers and waterways in the province, he added.
Saying that the provincial government though the Provincial Agriculture Office propelled rice production in the province through various programs and initiatives, the Governor reported that on March 15, Friday, the provincial government will receive another award in agriculture as one among the top 10 rice-producer province in the country.
The province was also awarded as first runner-up Cleanest, Safest and Greenest Province in Region 1 while Urdaneta City was hailed as the Cleanest, Safest and Greenest City in the region.
Vice Governor Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. Board Members Mojamito Libunao, Raul Sison and Vonmark Mendoza, Provincial Planning and Development Office Benita Pizarro, Provincial Health Officer Ana Teresa De Guzman, Provincial Agriculturist Officer-in-Charge Dalisay Moya and Provincial Information Officer Orpheus Velasco joined the Governor in receiving the awards.
