Gov. Espino distributes anew P1.57-million worth of checks to 12 women groups

Lingayen- - - Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. awarded last August 27 a total of P1.57 million worth of checks to some 12 women associations and cooperatives from different towns in the province as part of his administrations’ livelihood assistance project.
The recipients, numbering 442, who comprised the fifth batch of livelihood beneficiaries of the provincial government for 2014.
The Governor urged the recipients to use the funds wisely, pointing out that the provincial government has taken bold steps in transforming every Pangasinense household into a ‘productive unit.’
Ellsworth Gonzales, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Population Office, said the latest release of checks brought to over P43.8 million in livelihood assistance since the program was launched by the present administration in October 2008.
Latest recipients who renewed their previous loans with corresponding amount of check of the livelihood assistance include the Cayanga Women’s Association of Bugallon (P150,000); Blessed Barangobong Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Villasis (P150,000); Karayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Natividad, (P150,000); Golden Mountain Multi-Purpose Cooperative, San Quintin (P150,000); Bantay Bayan Association, Natividad ((P150,000); Anda KLAP SEA-K Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Anda (P150,000); and Caranglaan SEA-K, Mabini (P150,000).
Five groups that availed for the first time are as follows: Sanlibo People’s Association, Bayambang (P120,000);Lucky Rooster Consumers Cooperative, Tayug (P100,000); Balingasay Women’s Livelihood Organization, Bolinao (P100,000); Guilig Women’s Association, Mangaldan (P100,000); and St. Marian’s Farmers Saranay Association, Binalonan (P100,000).
Aside from the regular livelihood project, the provincial government will forge partnership with local government units and OFW families for the implementation of the “Bantay-Barangay Tulong-Hanapbuhay” program, a strategic comprehensive and innovative anti-illegal recruitment and human trafficking and poverty alleviation program.
Those who will complete the Bantay-Barangay mapping project will be given top priority for the availment of BSP-Provincial Credit Surety Fund intended to help livelihood assistance projects in the community.
This will help more Pangasinenses to become self-sufficient and self-reliant, the governor said.
